No Up Front Fees - Don't Pay Till You See Results!
Self-Debt ReliefOverview
For some consumers the self-debt relief path makes more sense
than debt settlement or debt negotiation. In order for a
self-directed debt relief plan to be successful, there are several
important elements which must be in place:
-Tremendous amounts of self-discipline
-Dramatic downsizing of one’s budget
-Incurring no new debt
-Saving for unexpected expenses
The end goal of a self-managed debt relief plan should be to become
debt free as quickly as possible while paying the least amount of
interest possible (plus no fees of course). In order for this to be
accomplished, the first debt that should be attacked is the one with
highest interest rate. Although some debt experts argue that the
psychological benefit of paying off small debts first is more
important than paying down ones with high balances, if one is
self-disciplined enough to manage their own debt relief plan
appropriately, it is only logical to attack the card with the
highest interest.
Disadvantages of Self Debt Relief
The main disadvantages of self-administered debt relief programs
lies in the fact that it can be extremely demanding on the consumer.
For one, it requires significant cut backs on monthly expenses. For
consumers experiencing a financial hardship this is unrealistic. For
consumers whose debt problems emanates from overspending to begin
with, the self-discipline required to administer one’s own debt
relief plan is difficult.
Advantages of Self Debt Relief
The main advantage of self-directed debt relief plans is that there
is no damage done to one’s credit profile, unlike credit counseling
or debt settlement. By making on time payments according to the
terms stipulated by your creditors, your creditworthiness will
remain intact or strengthen. Another advantage lies in the
self-satisfaction that is fostered by reducing one’s debts without
third-party help. Along the same lines, one’s confidential financial
information remains private, which has its own advantages in itself.
